Bridgerton, ever heard of it? Pride and Prejudice fanatics, Marie Antonette stans, fashion ballerinas, this is your met. This year's meet is scheduled for today, THE MET GALA IS TODAY. I don't know how to feel, two Met Gala’s in one year is like two cups of tea with three extra sugars. Tonight’s ball is a white tie event, not black tie, white tie. White tie events indicate royalty and class, a higher form of elegance than your traditional formals and operas. White tie events are most associated with the gilded age and were the required dress for balls and formals within the Victorian period.
So what can we expect from this year's Met? A lot. The theme is impeccable and almost impossible to misconception. Last year's theme was a miss. I guess celebrities don't have a concept of American fashion, but moving forward, gilded glamour is on. Before I jump into my show stopping Met Gala look predictions, let’s grip our pencils because it’s time for fashion history. The Gilded Age is defined by the following silhouettes and trends, corsets, bodices, gloves, lace, hour glass shapes, and gowns. Sounds familiar? Many of the cycling 2020 trends involve these elements. I am betting you that your amazon wish list at least has one corset on hold. They have a choke hold on me. I try to escape the feminine urge to put on a corset every morning. This theme is ample for fashion opportunities. It has a strict and constructible ambience that is associated with the period and also applies to the trends of cycling in the present day. I am thrilled.
Now for my predictions. Now, these are my thoughts. The mainstream models at the event will be wearing Chanel or Versace. Catch Hailey Bieber wearing pearls, basic and she can’t dress, in my opinion. I see Lily Depp in blue, a stunning satin baby blue, with ribbon and ballet flat details. Rihanna will drop my jaw, can't predict anything for her, and for some reason I feel Lady Gaga may drop her 4 scene outfit change to 2. Kim will wear a corset, her waist will be like my pinky. For the men, the male actors will be wearing a suit and white tie. Lil Nas will make a grand entrance, possibly in royal colors of purple or dark navy. I am very excited, can you tell? Now I am going to be wrong, I have no idea what these celebrities will be wearing to the Met, yet I know I will be satisfied. The theme is incredible and I am ready to get my gilded glamour on.
