Tell me about yourself. My name is Chrissy, I am a brand consultant and social media strategists for Juv Consulting, I am a senior in high school and my passions include marketing, music, and art.
What sparked your interest in marketing? I made this book when I was eight, I sketched out my dream office, when I was little I also used to make rainbow loom bracelets and would sell them to my neighbors, that’s when it started, I would always dream of business ideas, growing up I was always exposed to the corporate world, search for strong female figures, I was always one to be curating some business plan, when I was a freshman I was figuring out my passion, I was a dancer and at my dance studio, my dance teacher was talking about how she was stressed about her website, I met with her and would help her with her website, offering my marketing advice, I have this intuition to seek visual opportunities, based off what looks good and target audiences
What’s your mission? What do you want to see more from our generation? When people think of marketing they think of the money, when really is it about creating awareness around ideas that matter that can make an impact on other communities, I want to see people from our generation do something good with our platforms, examples being influencers and non profits, content creators speaking out about issues such as mental health and queer rights, it is not so much an echo chamber but a clear conversation
What is a day in the life of Chrissy? Around two to three times I wake up at 5 am, in the beginning I thought it was a waste of time, but when you wake up at 5 am, no one knows ur awake, and you don't have any expectations, I can do whatever I want, my family and friends don't know I’m awake, if I’m not awake at 5 then I’ll wake up at 7:30, every morning I’ll meditate for 10 mins, I like to journal and do this thing called morning pages, journaling is my anchor, I also like to read, I love having an hour to myself, my phone is completely off, then I will work till 7:50, I am a community manager and consult on Pandora Jewelry and Chamberlain Coffee, then I get dressed and go to the mule stall, everyday, me and sam the barista are besties, I have two cups of coffee max usually, then I go about my school day, during my library aid I’ll schedule meetings and clock in, in my free time I work, making around 20 dollars an hour, I want to start freelancing, my first client was Allison Stoner, it made me grow so much, after school in the evening, is the time I am the most relaxed, I try to go to bed at 10:30pm, I’ll get home, I pick my brother with autism from the bus, babysit him till 5pm, then I’ll spend some social media time and text my friends, then I’ll do some homework, throughout the day, I use work chat, a group chat for every project, my family has a sit down dinner every night, we talk and eat, sometimes I’ll play the guitar, I will hang with my dog, shower, before I go to bed I will read or do some nightly journaling, I believe in flushing out my thoughts
How do you stay productive? I have a color coded google calendar, with reminders, and break times, where I schedule meetings, I layout my work schedule and school schedule
Would you say you're addicted to being productive? Are you ever not productive? Yes I am addicted. On the weekends I will sleep in, I’ll binge watch youtube, I will watch Tik Tok, my after school activity is watching Tik Tok
How does having a routine correlate to your mental health? If gives my brain a blueprint, I will be waking up naturally at 5am and feel tired at 10:30pm, it tells my body what it needs to do, I struggle just like everyone else, I am not productive all the time, it is hard to balance, but I would not change it for the world, I am so open to new perspectives, showing me how diverse the world is, I am not exposed to this at heights, I have a real impact and that gets me up everyday, I pitched a LBGTQ inspired jewelry collection last week and it brings me such joy, we pitched gluten free Oreos once and then three months later they were out in stores, marketing is a tool to make an impact
Marketing is a female dominated field, how do you set yourself apart? Honestly, it’s about creating your own opportunities, changed my perspectives on what you can and can’t do, a change in mindset, you don't have to go and ask someone, you can just do it, I am ahead of a lot of women in terms of experience, seek out those goals yourself, also NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK, be very empathetic, never doubt that someone or something is out of your reach, in marketing I like being three steps ahead of everyone else, I love having inside knowledge
What do you wish people understood more about you? I think people need to understand I am so much more capable than what I seem, although I am little and sweet, do not mistake my ambition, behind all the craziness is my desire to want more, in english class, we were comparing the norms of women, and a boy in my class looked at me and said “Chrissy I will always make more money than you because I am a man and you are a women” I replied “I am going to be a multimillionaire and you are going to be stuck in Texas”, I know what I am capable of, there will be days where I go crazy and insane, when people are constantly doubting me, telling me my dreams are not normal and that I am not normal, it gets to me, I will feel that I am going crazy because no one understands me, when I surround myself I understand, being around people where you don't have water down my dreams, I want people to be able to handle the full version of myself, I receive this through people who are not in my community, here at Alamo Heights, my biggest advice is to find mentors, find friends who deeply understand you, do not reject online community.
