Tell me about yourself? Where are you from? How are you where you are today? I am Mama Sharkk, I am 19, born and raised in Austin, I grew up in a family of six and am also a triplet.
Where does “mamashark” come from? In the 8th grade, I was wearing this shark onesie, I was always the mom of the friend group, one of my friends called me “mamashark” and I instantly changed it to my instagram username. After I moved to LA I needed a stage name so I started going by mama sharkk.
How would you describe your personal style? It is definitely something I took a long time to develop, its cheap its chic, its bold its denim, its layers its patterns, its silk, its hats, its oversized, its flairs, its mama shark
If you could be any item of clothing what would you be? I would be the hat, my hat is my tiara, it's my crown. I bought it on Ebay and then I started buying more and more. I got the hat thing from my mom, she had four of the hats I always wear.
What would you be caught dead wearing? I will never wear the Uggs boots and trucker hats.
Does following trends in fashion make you more stylish? Trends influence style, but no one should put themselves in a box, I don't follow trends I try to make them, and sometimes people do it before me and I do get mad. I take inspiration from what I see and things around, sometimes I take inspiration from the way cartoon characters dress.
How do you style outfits? What items do you start with first? I usually see something I am excited about, something I see in my closet, then I start to add and build my outfit. The other day I saw this table runner and I made it into a skirt.
How does your style reflect your personality? Some people say it's intimidating, but I am trying to convey that I am a fun and fashionable person, a little flamboyant, what I wear is the mood for today.
What are your favorite brands and designers? I love Moschino. I feel that Jeremy Scott and I would make such a good team. If not, where do you shop? I love savers, I have been shopping ever since I was little.
What heals your inner child? I feel like playing outside and spending time with my family and dressing up. I have always loved playing dress up.
What kind of people do you try to avoid when it comes to fashion? There have been a lot of friends I have made that have tried on my clothes and left with them and never given them back, people who are judging me are just sad, I avoid blandish looking people, they are low vibration people.
What would you wish you would have none before moving to LA? I was homeschooled, it took me a long time to make friends, yet right when I moved to LA I had my mama sharkk moment and was living my best life.
