When thinking about this fall, what you are wearing should be important. The second the weather starts to get colder I immediately feel the urge to go shopping. Then Paris Fashion Week rolls around and things really start to begin. I don't know if you noticed but fall trends are infinite, never ending, and always One may say fall fashion is an essential being. I say it’s vital to my womanhood. Okay, I’m being dramatic but follow along with me and my take on this season's trends.
Colorful Statement Boots
Now above me are the most fabulous pair of Miu Miu boots. When I first saw @elijx on Instagram, I gasped and immediately went to my search bar. I myself have some off brand furry winter boots as of now and they do the job. Details people, knee high boots are here to stay. I recommended shopping second hand versions of these on either Vinted, Ebay, or Poshmart have came and saw and here to fucking stay.
Ribbons
If you're on Tik Tok, you know. Ribbons are redefining the accessory world. This trend is very recyclable and gives access to almost anyone to join in. These subtle details can really alleviate a look, taking you from a regular girl dressed in jeans to croquette effortless Lily Rose Depp. I myself have not engaged in this trend yet, but am itching to start cumulating a collection of vintage lace, trims, and ribbons.
Long Denim Skirts
All over my Pinterest, long denim skirts have been plastered on my eyeballs. I personally love a good long denim skirt and consider the piece a staple basic to anyone's wardrobe. Your best bet in finding the perfect fitting skirt is to head down to your local goodwill or vintage shop. Denim skirts are the moment, so don't think too much about diluting this piece with a rambunctious top or any chaotic accessories. Keep it simple, classy, and denim.
Motorcycle Bags
Okay settle down, I know they are stunning. These motorcycle bags are feeding my Harley Davidson girl alter ego to a T. Ever since I have moved to Paris, every pop up shop I have seen has included some elements ambulating to the motorcycle rockstar girl aesthetic. Marc Jacobs just recently released The Studded Pushlock Mini Satchel bag, seen above on the right, and I am in actual awe. I highly encourage everyone to tap into this new era and get themselves a motorcycle bag this fall.
Skinny Scarfs
Skinny scarfs, ladies and gentlemen are in. Hannah Montana is rolling in her grave. The skinny scarf is one of the hottest neck accessories this fall. A skinny scarf adds a unique and feminine touch to any outfit. The skinny scarf is a subtle statement that elongates your neck while hiding it. The best thing about these scarfs is you can find them anywhere and are extremely affordable. Not willing to purchase? Head on over to your Dad's closet and use a tie as a makeshift replacement.
Pendant Necklaces
Now this trend is a bit boring to me, but very real. Any and every IT girl is some sort of version or alteration of the pendant heart necklace. Now I go to fashion school, and the girls who pop out with these just know. I think this trend is cute but definitely the least sustainable out of them all. If you are willing to indulge in the pendant necklace trend, I recommend getting some string and heading to the thrift store to find some cheap pendant jewelry to adapt.
Fur Vest and Fur Trim
Paying homage to the Russian winter aesthetic we saw last fall season, fur is back and better than ever. Most specifically fur trim and fur vest, the fur vest is a personal step up for me. Almost Famous has been and done that with the fur trim. Fur is a flirty way to incorporate the natural world into your looks. Fur coats do take my back to my childhood, as I would channel a fabulous Cruella de Vil in my playroom.
Vintage Lace and Linen
So vintage clothing and vintage lace is nothing new to the game, but vintage linens…now we are getting technical. Some may say lace and linen are unconventional to fall, the weather is colder so why would you wear less? This trend is very representative of the croquette girl aesthetic we have seen all over the internet. Use these pieces as inspiration for possibly layering opportunities. Phone your grandma in the meantime and see if you can snatch some of her old and timeless vintage lace.
Statement Midi Skirt
Last but certainly not least, the statement midi skirt. Now I absolutely love a good midi, a midi is breezy and comfortable. Statement midi are the way to go this fall, especially pairing with a sleek pair of leather boots. Midi skirts are great for layering and can be complemented with a leather or beaded belt. As western wear has made its round through the trend cycle, midi skirts remind of the cowgirl bestie I never had. Great ways to find unique midi skirts are by shopping shops like Cop Copine, Farfetch, and Etsy.
